Our Story

Dance America started over 15 years ago in Nashville, TN as a by-product to owning a West Coast Swing Competition and dance weekend. We thought that we could save money by owning our own dance floor. We realized that our investment was too large to leave dormant for 11 months out of the year so we started sharing our floor with other events. From there we continued to grow the business. Today we supply production services from Coast to Coast. We offer production services for many of the top dance championships and dance weekends in the USA. We believe our customers are the BEST!

Today we have several distribution points in the USA and our home office is now located in Sarasota, FL.

Meet the Team

Here is a look at the people that make Dance America work!


Phil Dorroll

Founder & CEO

Phil started Dance America over 20 years ago. At that time Phil was a beginning dance instructor and soon to be dance studio owner. One thing led to another and Phil began producing and directing West Coast Swing Championships. Today Phil is a partner in GoDance USA, LLC, a dance event company that operates three West Coast Swing Competitions in Florida. Phil is also the President and Event Director of the US OPEN SWING DANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS INC, the oldest swing competition in the world.

The event business led Phil to develop a portable floor rental company, Dance America Productions, Inc, and that has matured into a full production company for dance events. We are very proud that most of our customers have supported us for over ten years and our business mostly comes from referrals.


Jack Smith

Production Manager - West Coast Divison

Jack Smith is our Chief Production Manager working primarily on the West Coast. Jack is a Hall of Fame DJ and is highly respected throughout the USA for his involvement as a Dancer, DJ, & Emcee. In 2015 Jack was awarded the "Walk Of Legends" for the US OPEN. In recent years Jack has done stand-up comedy in the LA area. Jack is a great guy and is taking great care of our West Coast Division. We are proud to have him on our team.


Charles Cook

Production Manager - East Coast Division

Charles Cook is our Chief Production Manager working primarily on the East Coast and Midwest. Sometimes Charles also supports our West Coast Division. Charles has become invaluable to Dance America and is responsible for installing and striking production equipment including dance floor, sound, lighting and pipe and drape. Our customers really appreciate the attention to detail and the desire to offer the best quality service. Charles is a highly skilled technician in sound and lighting.


Tina Lin

Production Ass't & Lighting Tech

Tina is Dance America's Ass't Production Manager and Lighting Tech. She has learned to work in all phases of our production processes. She and Charles have developed a great working relationship and Clients of Dance America enjoy special treatment when they are on duty. Tina also creates our lighting scenes and edits our graphics for our LED wall and Video Projection Screens.
